Five Question Friday – November 19

Yay Friday!!!!!!!!!!

Today’s Questions:

1. What Christmas song do you loathe?

Loathe might be a strong word but the Christmas song that I just don’t get into is “Last Christmas”.  I first heard Wham! sing it when I was younger and I know Taylor Swift released a version of it recently. I really don’t get why its a Christmas song other than it has “Christmas” in the title.  It’s really just a break-up song and the break-up happened “last Christmas”.  Weak sauce, my friend.

2. Do you and your significant other cuddle at night or sleep on opposite sides of the bed?

Remember the scene of FRIENDS in which Rachael goes on about how her and Ross are cuddly sleepers, annoying baby talk and all?  Then she leaves and Ross comes clean that he wriggles away once she’s asleep.  Well, luckily Keith and I are both well aware that we are NOT cuddly sleepers.  When its time to go to sleep we both roll over, backs to each other even, and go off to dreamland.  Usually after I’ve reminded hubby-man to get on his own dang side of the bed but that’s a whole ‘nother issue!  I read an article in college (probably in Cosmo or something credible like it) that if you slept with your backs to each other your relationship wouldn’t last.  For a long time I took it seriously and refused to sleep back-to-back.  But then I realized that Keith is more likely to leave me if I’m making my sleepy noises in his face so I let it go.

3. Have you ever had surgery?

Yep.  Primarily minor little ones that you probably would call “procedures” rather than surgery.   I had my wisdom teeth out in high school  In May, I had an excision on my hand to make sure the melanoma that was found was all gone.  Luckly it was all gone then and I’ve had clean scans ever since!!

4. When do you typically have your holiday shopping done?

I think most years I’m still running around tying up loose ends on Christmas Eve.  Since most of our gifts have to be shipped back to Michigan where all our family is, we have to be somewhat on the ball.  That is definitely not my strong suit but I’m getting better!

5. If money were not an issue (and you HAD to pick something), what would your ultimate luxury item be?

I’m so lame I think “What to get if money’s no issue…” and I come up with “oooh, KitchenAid stand mixer” or something boring like that.  So I had to take off my “responsible and practical” hat and think.  My ultimate luxury purchase would be a trip with my husband.  We didn’t do a honeymoon, have never taken a vacation together and don’t really get an opportunity to do recreational traveling.  Not that we don’t enjoy our trips to visit our family in before I get slack for saying that.  We could just really use the time to relax and get away for a little bit.  While I’m at it, I’d get an awesome camera to capture those memories!!

It’s a good thing its Friday because now I’m daydreaming about being on a tropical beach somewhere, reading a book with a drink in my hand!!!

Five Question Friday – November 12

Don’t you just love my original and highly creative title?!?  Well, the reason I decided to participate in this carnival is because I tend to suffer from writer’s block and I thought this could get the juices flowing.  So that’s all I got up there!

On to the questions for today!

1. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?

The first thing that comes to mind was the first time I had surgery for an ingrown toenail.  My family doctor tried, bless his heart, but he didn’t have the specialized tools & skills that I later learned a podiatrist would have.  I remember squirming on the couch in pain and my mom calling the nurse because I’d already maxxed out my painkillers for next couple hours.

2. How much sleep do you get at night?

Unless I’m stupid and let myself get sucked into blogs, message boards, Facebook or TV, I can bank on at least 7 hours.  I’m in bed by 11:00pm and up at 6:00am.  Well, that’s when my alarm goes off.  I’m definitely out of bed by 6:30 when I have to get Brooke up or we won’t make it to school in time for breakfast.

3. How long did you believe in Santa Claus? How did you find out that he does not exist?

I don’t remember when I finally learned “The Truth” but I do remember the day in 4th grade when some stubborn kids who had figured it out was trying to make our teacher admit it to the whole class.  She was doing her best to give ambiguous answers and not give it away.  Those stinkin’ brats would not give up though.  She got so frustrated because she didn’t want to be the one to burst that bubble.  Man, I wish I could remember if they reached a compromise.

4. What was the last movie you saw in a theater?

It’s probably not a good sign that I don’t know.  Keith and I saw Iron Man 2 on Mother’s Day but I’m pretty sure we’ve seen one since May.  Right?  It was when his parents were in town in August.  Ha!  I had to email Keith to figure it out but it was The Other Guys with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

5. What do you wear to bed?

My bedtime wardrobe depends on the season.  Sticky summer season is shelf tanks & capri pants.  As it gets cooler, the legs of my pants & my sleeves get progressively longer.  I’ll usually add socks to the mix as well because my feet get cold easily and once my feet are cold, my whole body feels cold.  I’ll be totally honest and add that I also wear a night guard to keep from grinding my teeth.
