Painfully Good Memory

We all have moments we wish we could forget when it comes to losing our cool with our kids (that’s not just me, right?).

We like to think that one incident will be easily forgotten in the grand scheme of your little one’s childhood.

And then your little darling gives you a play by play of your entire embarrassing outburst from the day before.

Guess some of those bad moments will stick and now that Brooke is older, it’s all the more reason to strive to have many more positive moments and keep those less than dignified ones few and far between.

Working Mommy Wednesday – Fall Colors

This week’s Working Mommy Wednesday prompt:
Show photos of autumn in your area.

I grew up in Michigan, where fall colors were prominent. Then for 6 years we lived in Texas where our seasons were scorching hot and hot. Not a lot of color change in the trees there. So I’ve absolutely embraced the transition from green to rich oranges, yellows and reds in the trees around us.

This photo is taken from my garage across the street of the pasture were we see cows grazing every day. This was a couple weeks ago and I wish I’d had time to take another one today because there are so many more colors now!

Month of Thanks – Day 1

It’s pretty easy to hear about all the things that are wrong with the state of the world today. Children who are being abused by their parents or stricken with terminal illness. Families struggling to keep a roof over their head when one or both parents have been laid off in this unstable economy. People desperate for food and medicine overseas and here in the US. It goes on and on…

So it would be natural to feel like all is hopeless and that the world is just a dark place, right?

Then I saw a couple people post on Facebook about a Month of Thanks in November. I think that idea is AWESOME! Appreciating the good things can fall to the wayside when all the things that are wrong and need to be “fixed” are knocking at our door.

I propose taking a few minutes from your day this month to think about for what in your life you give thanks. It can be as deep as your family & health or as trivial as the reality TV show that is your guilty pleasure. Let’s just celebrate the things that keep us smiling!!

I’ll go deep to start. I apologize if it gets mushy.

I’m thankful for my husband.

In his professional life, he works so hard and is so good at what he does. At home, he is a partner who is more than willing to get his hands dirty and views nothing as “not his job”. He’s a wonderful father and Brooke and I both absolutely adore him.

It is with great pride that I’ve watched him make really positive changes recently in his personal life. How he manages to get himself to the gym at 6:00am or at 10:00pm, I’ll never know!! But he does and I’m so proud of him for it!

I doubt I’ll blog each day with the things I’m thankful for. To keep up with them or contribute your own, follow me on Facebook or Twitter!
