My First Vlog!! Do I Have An Accent

My friend Aramelle posted on her blog a challenge she had seen among fellows bloggers to record yourself saying some words and answering question in order to demonstrate accents or lack therof.

I thought it sounded fun and I’ve been wanting to incorporate vlogs into the site so I jumped right in!

I think it would be fun if some of my readers jumped in and made their own videos! Here’s the info to participate.

The Words:
Aunt, route, wash, oil, theatre, iron, salmon, caramel, fire, water, sure, data, ruin, crayon, toilet, New Orleans, pecan, both, again, probably, spitting image, Alabama, lawyer, coupon, mayonnaise, syrup, pajamas, caught

And the Questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that curls into a ball when you touch it?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you use to change the TV channel?

Have fun with it and feel free to post your video here in the comments.

Working Mommy Wednesday – Holidays are coming!

Our prompt this week:

The last quarter of the year is full of amazing holidays. What is your favorite? Halloween, Thanksgiving, Talk Like a Pirate Day or Christmas?

Christmas is my favorite of the end of year holidays. Halloween doesn’t do much for me. The free candy aspect was pretty cool growing up but coming up with an idea and actually creating costumes wasn’t fun for me at all. Even in middle school when the cool thing to do was dress up as a baby – which really just meant you came to school in your pajamas. You maybe brought a bottle or something to make it “legit”.

Thanksgiving has been small for us recently because we’ve lived far from family. Traveling just never made sense because its right in the middle of football season and Keith’s work schedule wouldn’t accomodate leaving town.

Then there’s Christmas…ever since my first apartment in college, doing all the “Christmas” things have been a huge deal to me. My best friend Erica and I had a Christmas tree in our apartment and when I moved into my own a few years later, one of the first things I did was get a Christmas tree of my own. For some reason, having my own Christmas tree symbolized being an adult to me. I chose a theme – silver and red – and bought my own decorations.

When Keith and I moved in together, it became our Christmas tree. Room was made for the various sports-themed ornaments that Keith had since being a kid and my silver & red tree become representation of our two styles beginning to merge. That is when we started creating our traditions and even attempted “family” pictures in front of the tree.

Sheed being as cooperative as ever!

This year Keith and I have agreed to upgrade to a bigger tree! I’m very excited about this. We’ve recently moved to a new home in a new city and its been like a whole new life for us. Once again, the Christmas tree will be a reflection of our lives. I can’t wait to decorate it with Brooke and see her face when she wakes up Christmas morning to see what is waiting for her underneath.

What holiday is your favorite? What do you like so much about it?

Menu Plan Monday – October 3
